About the Club

SERIOUS SCIENCE.SERIOUSLY FUN.

The Cosmetics Club is a South African creative laboratory where science, practical skills, creativity and education meet, in classrooms, at parties, in boardrooms and in boxes.

The story

A biotechnologist who believed science should be something you can hold.

The brains behind The Cosmetics Club is a biotechnologist and cosmetics formulator with a passion for bringing science, practical skills, creativity and education together, and for proving that a lab bench can be the most joyful place in the room.

What started as hands-on formulation sessions for kids has grown into a clubhouse with many rooms: school STEM programmes, birthday parties, adult workshops, corporate team experiences, DIY kits and a white label studio for brands. The Cosmetics Club has been teaching children since 2023.

One idea runs through all of it, when people make something real with their own hands, they remember the science that made it possible.

Scientist-led

The brains behind The Cosmetics Club is a biotechnologist and cosmetics formulator, every experience is built on real formulation science.

Hands first

Nobody watches from the sidelines. Every participant measures, mixes and makes, and takes home the proof.

Play with purpose

Fun is the delivery mechanism. Curiosity, skills and confidence are the payload.

Did you know?Your lips have no oil glands of their own, that's why balm feels so good.Did you know? When citric acid meets sodium bicarbonate in water, they release CO₂, that's the fizz.Did you know?Soap molecules have two ends: one loves water, one loves oil. That tug-of-war lifts dirt.Did you know?Mica is a mineral you can find in rocks, ground up, it becomes cosmetic shimmer.Did you know?An emulsion is two things that refuse to mix, persuaded to hold hands.Did you know?Vanilla comes from an orchid. Your favourite scent is basically a flower extract.Did you know?Glycerin is a humectant, it pulls moisture out of the air and into your skin.Did you know? The word 'cosmetic' comes from the Greek kosmētikos, skilled in arranging.Did you know?Your lips have no oil glands of their own, that's why balm feels so good.Did you know? When citric acid meets sodium bicarbonate in water, they release CO₂, that's the fizz.Did you know?Soap molecules have two ends: one loves water, one loves oil.
